Cassina: A Profile in Design Excellence

Cassina SpA was established in 1927 in the Northern region of Brianza, Italy, an area noted for its skilled artisans and woodworkers. Initially specializing in cabinetry and residential furniture, Cassina expanded in the 1940s to precision woodworking and custom upholstery for luxury ocean liners.

In the mid-1950s, Cassina traveled to Paris and obtained the rights to manufacture world-renowned architect Le Corbusier's collection. With the success of the Corbusier license, Cassina embarked upon a larger program, The Cassina Masters Collection, which today includes work from the major icons of design.

Cassina SpA was first introduced to the American market in the early 1960s. In 1994, Cassina expanded its presence in the US and began selling through its new company, Cassina USA.

The modern classics in the Cassina Masters Collection include pieces designed by such masters of the modern movement as Le Corbusier, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gerrit T. Rietveld, E. Gunnar Asplund, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Exclusive licensing arrangements with these architects' heirs/estates ensures authenticity both in the spirit and letter of production

Cassina USA also offers a full range of furnishings for residential and high-end contract use designed by renowned European architects, including Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck, Vico Magistretti, Mario Bellini, and Hannes Wettstein.

The Cassina USA Collection exemplifies Cassina's commitment to quality in material, craftsmanship, and the aesthetics of modernism.
