Carol DeBear creates unique, customized interiors, combining traditional tastes with contemporary designs. Carol's firm, DeBear Designs Inc., incorporates new, innovative and green technologies with fresh, colorful materials to bring projects to life. Carol is focused on her clients sense of functionality and tastes to achieve beautiful, vivid and well made living environments for their lifestyles and families.
After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Technology, Carol built a professional career in the fashion industry. As a design specialist for fabric and apparel, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Pacific Rim, gaining visual and textural understandings of regional architecture, textiles and color schemes.
Carol's creative and business experience in textiles and fabric design became the foundation for a natural progression into space planning, furniture design, lighting techniques and green technology. Tying her professional skill sets to her creative development, Carol earned a degree in Interior Design from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York, later founding her own interior design firm, DeBear Designs, Inc.
Starting her own firm enabled Carol to employ her design, technical and organizational talents to help home owners conceptualize their design needs and craft a plan of action to include budgetary guidelines, timetables and protocols for working with vendors and craftspeople. DeBear Designs has a varied design portfolio spanning total home and office interior makeovers to customized renovation, construction and new additions. Carol's designs consistently achieve recognition throughout Westchester County, having been published in Westchester Magazine, Westchester Home and Garden to name a few, as well as nationally in New York Spaces and Woman's Day's Home Remodeling & Makeover editions. Her work is best characterized as elegant, refined, spirited, and above all, distinct.
Carol DeBear and DeBear Designs is held in high regard by her fellow ASID design peers, having served as New York Metro ASID Representative for Westchester County, and as a member of the US Green Building Council. Carol has also served for the last 5 years on the Architectural Review Board for the Village of Scarsdale.
Carol is active in community affairs as well, dedicating her time and talents to The Make a Wish Foundation of Westchester, designing specialized environments for cancer plagued children and their families, chairs an annual Play for Pink event to raise money for breast cancer research, and participates in numerous other charitable events dedicated to Leukemia and Lymphoma research.
