Successful interior design is the creation of an environment that satisfies the needs and lifestyle of the individual while providing aesthetic appeal.
Marilyn, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), has been a co-owner of The Etagere design studio for over 20 years. Her primary focus has been residential interior design, including projects in new construction, remodeling, and historic renovation. In all of her projects, in addition to providing an aesthetically appealing environment, she listens to her client to hear how spaces will be used. It is her goal to create an environment for a client that satisfies his specific needs and desires. By coordinating the details on a design job, she eases the decision making for her client, regardless of the type of the project.
In recent years, Marilyn's work in nursing homes and assisted living facilities has taught her much about designing for healthcare. This knowledge has given her the ability to design livable and beautiful interiors in the homes of clients who have special physical needs. She uses the concept of universal design, which means creating an environment that can be used by all people, regardless of their age or physical abilities.
Marilyn is an active member of ASID, having been president of the Texas Chapter for the 1997-1998 year. She has created aesthetically inspired rooms in more than 10 designer showhouses. Marilyn participates in continuing education courses every year to keep informed of new developments and sources for interior design. Her enthusiasm for her profession is shown in her dedication to creating the best interiors for her clients.
