Tara Seawright inc./interior design is a residential design firm based in New York City. Ms. Seawright has been designing interiors for almost 20 years. She works as a designer at the firms Robert Currie & Associates and Noel Jeffrey, Inc. before starting her own firm in 2000. Over the years, Seawright has designed apartments, offices and country houses for some of Manhattan's most successful entrepreneurs and executives.
Seawright, a native New Yorker, graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor's degree in Art History. Her extensive experience in a knowledge of art and antiques sets her apart from the "garden variety" interior decorators that populate the market. After college, she worked as a Specialist in the Estate Department at Christie's Auction House and then as a gallerist at two of Manhattan's premier art galleries: Hirschl & Adler Gallery and Matthew Marks Gallery. Her aesthetic has been wholly informed by her unique experience as well as influence from her artist husband, Sam Seawright.
Seawright's work is characterized by casually elegant rooms full of unique vintage pieces and beautiful antiques as well as unexpected touches that reflect her clients' personalities. She employs quality construction and the most comfortable custom upholstery.
Seawright is also regarded as an expert on interior design and has appeared as a guest in that capacity on a major network television talk show. Her work has been published by InStyle Magazine, Hampton's Cottage & Gardens and New York Spaces and can be seen in an upcoming issue of Real Simple.
