Biography

"When I was a teenager, I would always rearrange the furniture in the house at least once a week My mom would come home from work shaking her head and smiling "Lord have mercy, this child has changed the house again." But she never interfered whenever I had a creative tantrum, even when I painted some of the furniture. I grew up having art, design, fashion and architecture influences all around me. With a structural engineer and entrepreneur for a father, a crafty mother and a very stylish grandmother, I was continuously exposed to design.

After receiving two degrees in interior design and having an extensive background in art and design, I was prompted to start my own design firm, Shandra Ward Signature Design Studio. I love designing artful and functional spaces.

I believe everyone should enjoy great design and it is part of my mission to make that possible. In 2010, I launched Signature Style Studio Design & Lifestyle blog. This blog is a resource of innovative ideas, tips on sensible decorating, stylish entertaining and a go-to site with inspirational ideas for creating your signature style.

I also share my design expertise through freelance writing and editorial styling for online and print publications. My editorials focus on interior design, art, and entertaining.

I have achieved a broad range of design experience. Design runs deep in my heart, my soul and my blood. I love to create beautiful designs that people can relate to. My background in design was cultivated with various design influences. I've always admired design, and I knew whatever I decided to be when I grew up it had to be in the creative industry.
