Chris Nicole Prince has always seen herself as a "design Chameleon." A chameleon, an Old World Lizard, is characterized by its ability to change color yet retain its shape.
That definition epitomizes Chris Nicole Prince's trademark-melding the best of traditional design with her singular vision of the future. She has used that vision in her career as an interior designer, stagger and in product development. And as a partner Simon's Hardware & Bath in New York City, where she single-handedly metamorphosed and branded the decorative hardware store into a showplace of couture home design. She enhanced its traditional merchandise with avaunt-garde panache and redesigned the store's interior, exterior and vignettes.
In her ten years at Simon's, she transformed the store's interior by expanding its decorative hardware, kitchen and bath departments with cutting-edge merchandise, creating a tile and stone department and accessorizing the store with lighting fixtures and luxury gift-ware under her private label, THE CHRIS PRINCE COLLECTION.
With her flair for spotting trends, such as adapting commercial kitchen appliances for residential use, she redesigned the KWC Semi-Pro faucet, previously used only commercially in Europe, for the American home market (a first at the time).
Then, anticipating the consumer's penchant for spending more and more time at home-particularly in the kitchen and bath; Prince designed a Pompeian fantasy bath for the Cancer Research Institute Design Show House. The bath appeared in several books and magazines including BATHROOM distributed by Rizzoli through St. Martin Press.
Ms. Prince¿s designs have also appeared in many publications including INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE, THE NEW YORK TIMES, METROPOLIS MAGAZINE, WOMAN¿S DAY KITCHENS & BATHS and books such as SHOW HOUSES: SIGNATURE DESIGNER STYLES. She has made numerous television appearances.
Now, as a partner in Prince Segal Design, her vision continues to evolve as she melds traditional with modern style to reflect beautiful interiors.
