Dramatic Traditional Dining Room by Barry Goralnick
The young couple had been living in England and had very traditional tastes. The building is from the 20's and had classical detailing. the design rearranged all the rooms and created this formal dining room out of a former bedroom. All the moulding is new in the classical style. The idea of the mural from Zuber was to add dimension to a fairly narrow space and open it up to the eye. We added a pair of eight foot high doors at the far end of the room, which lead to a terrace" to expand the sense of view and light, and a pair of French doors that open to the kitchen which was opened up with a greenhouse "stolen" from space on the terrace. The dining furniture are all antiques the clients had purchased during their time in England.
