Sub-Zero and Wolf's 2010-2012 Kitchen Design Contest: Regional Winner Award.
This expansive, contemporary kitchen forms the heart of a 4300 square-foot penthouse in Downtown Toronto. The penthouse space, initially a raw shell, presented an exceptional opportunity to create a kitchen environment tailored perfectly to the clients' needs: a cooking/eating/gathering space for family get-togethers and catered meals with friends and guests.
The kitchen sits between the dining and family zones allowing the spaces to flow uninterrupted from one to the other. The back run was pulled away from the building's core to rationalize the design while creating extra deep storage and hidden shelves behind the sink.
Predominantly white lacquer, the kitchen has framed elements in engineered walnut veneer and marble at the sink. These elements create depth and shadow within the white palette. Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances were essential in creating the contemporary design aesthetic, including two 27", integrated Sub-Zero 700TCI Refrigerator/Freezer behind walnut panels and two side-by-side 30" built-in Wolf E Series ovens.
