Hyde Evans Design worked with Gelotte Hommas Architects to create this Normandy style guest and pool house in Medina, on Seattle's Eastside. Normandy style takes the best from both English and French design. The combination makes an elegant country style. Every interior surface and finish was selected and determined by Hyde Evans Design. Fir beams were stained to look aged. Trim and molding styles were derived from historical photos. The lower level floors are flamed basalt that continues out and around the pool. The steps and flooring upstairs are wide plank walnut. The color scheme in the furnishings throughout, were neutrals with bright pops of the client's favorite colors. Many of the fabrics on the lower level were indoor/outdoor due to the close proximity of the pool. Gelotte Hommas developed the charming idea of a kitchenette tucked under a staircase. Hyde Evans designed the custom made light fixtures, the cabinet style and specified and selected the stone for the counters, the tile for the walls and the stone farm sink.
