The completion of a successful interior design project requires a perfect understanding between designer and client. A home that makes references to a glamorous past, and yet feels as if it is on the cutting edge of today's design trends is the primary goal. A designer's task is to perform the magic that transforms an ordinary living or working space into a visually pleasing experience that combines comfort with elegance and style.
Under the direction of Gail Shields-Miller since 1987, SHIELDS & COMPANY INTERIORS has completed design projects of both a contemporary and traditional nature. Highlighted in various design magazines and books for its residential and commercial interiors, the company prides itself on its superior professional attitude and service.

The company has participated in numerous design events in the New York metropolitan area including the annual United Cerebral Palsy House Tour 2004, ASID panel discussions for Designer Week, the "Living With Craft" event at the Museum of Art & Design, and various designer Show Houses. In addition, Stark Carpeting featured a room by Shields & Company in an international ad campaign that appeared in numerous shelter magazines, such as Architectural Digest and British House & Gardens. Some of the interior design books, which have incorporated projects completed by the company, include the Showcase of Interior Design, Designing with Details, The Home Book, The Kitchen & Bath Color Book, and Design Sense.
