Hometown - Born and raised in Montreal, Bob Blumer now makes Los Angeles his home.

The Written Word - Bob is the author of The Surreal Gourmet: Real Food for Pretend Chefs (Chronicle Books); The Surreal Gourmet Entertains: High-Fun, Low-Stress Dinner Parties for 6-12 (Chronicle Books); and Off the Eaten Path: Inspired Recipes for Adventurous Cooks (Ballantine Books).

Claim to Fame - In his nine-year career as a chef, Bob is known for his contagious enthusiasm, which helps transform everyday meals into dining adventures. He has proved that anyone with a dysfunctional kitchen and mismatched place settings can throw a killer dinner party. Blumer has made more than 400 television appearances on three continents, including cooking segments on all three U.S. network morning shows and a series of his own Surreal Gourmet specials on The Food Network. He was recently profiled in People magazine and on CNN�s The World Today. Off the Eaten Path was awarded Most Innovative Cookbook (in English) at the prestigious World Cookbook Fair Awards held in Perigueux France.

Also of Interest - He has written many vin-related stories. One of his favorite jobs is interviewing hipster wine enthusiasts like singer Tori Amos and actor Jason Priestley for Wine X. Bob also is an artist whose work has been featured in his own books as well as being commissioned by The Los Angeles Times Food Section, Los Angeles magazine, and Drink, and Emeril Lagasse�s restaurant.
