Lofty Ambitions

As a new homeowner settling into my space—which features old mill wood flooring, enormous arched windows, exposed brick, exposed ductwork, exposed beams, and 16-foot ceilings—I'm eager to place my personal stamp on it. I see this as a balancing act that involves careful introduction of the fluid forms and vibrant colors I adore into an innately industrial setting. Here are a few products I feel bridge those two aesthetics. It's a work in progress, but I'm up for the challenge...

The title of this piece suggests cohesiveness, but it feels more like a work in progress to me. I can imagine other shapes or colors layered throughout.

I'd need a longer pole for this to work as a light source in the loft, but I'm really drawn to the clean lines of the grouping of cubes juxtaposed against the metal base.

You just can't go wrong with a Cassina sofa. These aren't as serious as the shape suggests. Instead, I see a modern classic that's open to adornment (and invites lounging).

Stumps

Playful, functional, natural, these small "stumps" fulfill many purposes: side table, footrest, stool, art. What's not to like? I wouldn't add more than two to any one room.

Twig Pillows

The graphic nature of these pillows give them a fun feel without being too silly. I can see them blending nicely with a muted palette and adding just the right splash to an all-white sofa.
