The builder, Montana Log Homes, specializes in custom, handcrafted homes, so everything was made to order.
The McDonaghs purposely flew out to Montana to visit the suppplier so they could hand pick many of the large diameter, lodge pole pine logs, trusses, and posts featured throughout. The home was then preset in Montana and taken down and loaded onto 5 eighteen-wheelers for the journey East. When the logs arrived in Vermont, the McDonagh kids drove with the truckers up the mountain and helped unload them.
