The reception area of the living room, which is adjacent to the main sitting area, brings together many of the architectural and design elements that make this house such an important example of its type.

From the Frank Lloyd Wright-like built-in banquette (covered in Cherokee-red fabric, Wright's favorite color) and built-in lamp, to the shiplap redwood ceiling and walls, intensive use of glass, and free-flowing space, the house captures the essence of organic architecture. The furniture includes pieces by Eames, Le Corbusier, and Rietveld.
