Proper lighting of a work of art enables it to be both enjoyed and preserved. Depending on the importance of the art in question, it may be a good idea to consult with a lighting professional. A work can be spared premature deterioration or fading by taking light sources, proper filtering, and fixture placement into consideration.


There are three primary ways in which to light art. Depending on the object to be lit and the physical condition of a given space, one can use:
