The major difference between curtains and draperies is that curtains generally are not lined and draperies are lined. With curtains, the fabric on the front is the same fabric as on the back. This light, airy, and translucent effect of unlined fabric is very popular. With draperies, there is decorative fabric on the front, and lining fabric on the back. Curtains and draperies can both be used to control light, to ensure privacy, and for decorative purposes.
