Little Oregon Wall Sconce

Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus movement, designed and built a house in Lincoln, Massachusetts. During the summer months, special night tours are offered from time to time. It was during one of these night tours that I learned that Gropius not only had a great sense of design, but of lighting as well. Several spaces extend out into the landscape — either literally or visually — through large windows. With outdoor lighting, the link to the outside was preserved and not lost in the dark.

Whether driving by a house, visiting it, or living inside, landscape lighting allows us to enjoy our homes and yards in another dimension — the night. With landscape lighting, we can display our homes, landscape features, and plantings. We can be shown the way at sidewalks, paths, and stairs, and we can enhance security.
