Popular styles for home office run to extremes.

Barely-there minimalism is in synch with office gadgetry. We want it light and simple. Transparent frosted glass, light woods, perforated plastics, and gray metallic accents say high tech for 2000. Expect more I-Mac colors teamed with understated designs.

Some of us yearn for pre-tech — the real pen and paper days. We craft home offices with the charm of yesteryear libraries, usually of British vintage. Warm venerable woods, heavy classical carvings, tufted leather, and ambient lighting satisfy our nostalgic longings.
