High Point International Home Furnishings Market | High Point, North Carolina October 16-22, 2006

With 2500 Showrooms of furniture and accessories spread out over 12 Million Square Feet of Showplace, High Point remains the Grande Dame of furniture markets.

It takes steely resolve and great walking shoes to take it all in, and choosing the best of the best is a little like asking a parent to tell you which child is their favorite. That being said, we've walked the walk, talked the talk, and are pleased to show you some of the gems that stood out in a sea of amazing products.

The Sabina Chair
from American Leather

This chair just knocked us out. Perhaps it was because it was positioned as a companion piece (opposite itself), or more likely because it is a fine example of a traditional piece -- updated beautifully, as all of American Leather's pieces tend to be.

Miro sofa
from Natuzzi

One of the many trends we spotted at Fall Market was one we like to call “back to reality”. By this, we mean designing for those of us whose homes cannot support products of the scale you sometimes see with sectionals. Natuzzi seems to have its fingers on the pulse of its customers -- they've come out with some new products whose lines are completely in keeping with how the rest of us really live. Who doesn't want a butter-soft sectional that can fit right into your living room?

Toscana Bar Cabinet
from Excelsior

Does it seem that the obsession with Martinis and Cosmopolitans has translated into a design trend? We think it has. We've seen some incredible stand-alone bar cabinets recently, and this one from Excelsior just says it all; Incredibly stylish, beautifully crafted, very sexy.

Family Communication Center
from Sligh

We feel that in our increasingly busy lives, furniture and accessories have to do double duty. A chair may never be just a chair again. Sligh has taken this challenge on, and to help us all they've designed a wonderful stand-alone product they are calling the “Family Communication Center”. It provides a place for almost everything...

Astor Chaise
from Councill

Councill's products seem to become more elegant every year. Their product's dramatic silhouettes, combined with unusual details, really speaks to a very specific customer. We felt that this chaise exemplifies their commitment to continuing to create with this clientele in mind.

Vineyard Desk
by Hooker

Here's another example of furniture doing double-duty. Multiple functions are packed into a compact footprint with this versatile and attractive piece. This is the type of product that can serve as an accent for hallway, bedroom, living room or office. We love the drop-down drawer for your keyboard, and the magazine rack slyly hidden on the side!
