Designer Ines Hanl and architect Daniel Boot made liberal use of raw, recycled, and renewable materials to create Land's End—a pitch-perfect home perched on the edge of Vancouver Island.

House Exterior

Visual surprises abound in this contemporary, single family home set on a steep cliff above the Pacific Ocean. The series of interconnected, Pavilion-style buildings offers a sophisticated blend of concrete, glass, wood, steel, and copper. Barrel roofs allow for soaring clerestory windows, while the flat roofs were designed to accommodate a lawn—the better to take in the breathtaking view.

It is no surprise that this Pacific Coast residence won Project of the Year in the Canadian Home Builders Association competition.
