Cabinets are arguably the most important design element in the kitchen. They establish the room's overarching style and set the tone not only for the kitchen, but oftentimes the adjoining rooms, as well. The finish of the cabinet often defines its overall style. In the broadest of design terms, contemporary cabinets tend to be made of laminate, lacquer, metal or bamboo, while traditional cabinets are more typically made of wood.
