What's the scale?

"Think like a designer does and consider the proportions of the appliances," says New York certified kitchen designer Susan Serra, CKD, who blogs as The Kitchen Designer. "Some appliances, such as a refrigerator or professional range, are monolithic in appearance. So ask yourself if a bright stainless or colored appliance will make the design appear off-kilter within the space or feel heavy in one area of the design. Likewise, in a small kitchen, think about the 'choppy' effect that the finish of an appliance can have. White appliances may be best in a small kitchen with white cabinetry to create a seamless flow."
