Small businesses

Stop by your local coffee shop, the car wash, or the hair salon and you just might find interesting art on display. Small business owners often trade services with and support other small businesses, including local artists.

Tag sales

Savvy secondhand shoppers who frequent tag sales, garage sales, estate sales, and the like, can find great treasures. The secret is hitting sales regularly.

Thrift stores

So many treasures await you at the local thrift store, including art. If you keep an open mind, you might even find a piece of vintage clothing worth framing.

Online auction site eBay gives you access to sellers all over the globe. You might do a gallery wall of framed baseball cards or find a display-worthy quilt to hang on your walls. And of course, there's an endless amount of paintings, prints, and more traditional art.

This website is like hitting up your favorite local art or craft show. No matter what medium you like, you'll find it here.

Online galleries

Prints, photography, or fine art: If you want to discover new voices in the art world, shop online art galleries such as Society6 and 20x200. Offerings vary, but you can generally pick up prints or framed prints at a good price.

Known for its great paper goods, Minted also features emerging artists. Designers submit, and the Minted community votes on what to sell.

Print shop Shutterfly lets you be the artist and turn your snapshots into stylish works of art.

Retired cigarette machines are stocked with small pieces of art. For $5, you pick a category and pull the knob. It's a happy surprise every time. Trying making art your go-to sourvenir; whether you prefer the beach, mountains, plains, or an urban destination, you'll find local art wherever you go.
