Proper Lighting

Do pay particular attention to bathroom lighting. It's not uncommon to see a bathroom with one fixture above the vanity mirror, but this lighting choice can produce shadows on your face. Instead, install lighting on each side of the mirror so your face is well-lighted when you get ready in the morning. Also include ambient lighting in your plan, such as a series of recessed fixtures strategically placed around the room. Put these fixtures on dimmers so you can lower the lights when you want to take a long, relaxing soak in the tub. When it's time to clean and you need to spot dirt, turn dimmers to full power.
