David developed this new hand printing method, with a heavy clay composite applied in multiple tones to indicate the 'tesserae' or individual chips found in traditional mosaic work. A layer of stain is then applied over the surface to provide an aged result. Moroccan displays a delightful optical effect, as the pattern of overlapping ovals becomes more evident at greater distances from the wall.
