ecoFiber Custom Rugs uses dyes derived from plant materials which are indigenous to the Indian sub-continent. We do not use harsh chemicals to wash the rugs or relay on electricity for any part of our production process. In addition to using solar power and organic materials, all ecoFiber Custom Rugs are certified as child labor free by Goodweave. Pictured: three unbleached Tibetan wool rugs.
All of our wool rugs are woven from sheep grazing at over 14,000 feet in elevation, resulting in fibers 20 percent higher in lanolin. Lanolin is a naturally occurring fat that makes wool more water and soil resistant. ecoFiber wools are washed with natural soap and are never bleached prior to dying. Lanolin rich wool preserves certain qualities that add value and beauty to the finished rug. All the wool is carded spun by hand, the latter resulting in yarns that vary in diameter - a desirable hallmark of fine rugs.
