Raw with burls and an eco-friendly non-toxic topcoat finish, each Russian Olive Stump Table is completely unique from the other and full of character. Russian Olive trees, non-native species introduced to New Mexico in the early 20th Century as an ornamental, are being removed in an effort to help restore the eco-system of the bosque (woodlands) along the banks of the Rio Grande River. The Russian Olive has been crowding out native trees along with other non-native species like Salt Cedars and Siberian Elms, so upon their removal we have been snatching them up to make really cool, organic side tables.
A donation from the sale of each table will be made to Tree New Mexico, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring sustainable forests in urban and rural communities and natural areas through restoration, public education and advocacy.
There will be various separations, splits and cracks on your table when it arrives. These naturally occur as the wood dries and shrinks. Over time, some continued shrinkage may accentuate existing separations or generate new ones. This does not compromise the structural performance or integrity of the wood and is considered inherent to the natural beauty of the design.
