The mooda is a traditional low stool handmade in India from the Sarkanda plant. The frame is created with the stalks of the plant which are aligned in a criss-cross construction and tied along the spine. Jeverdi, a twisted rope used to secure stools and weave the seat, is created from the plant's leafy covering, known as moonj grass. They are extremely lightweight and surprisingly durable.
