The New Neutrals: From Charcoal to Greige

By Tiffany Adams

Move over beige, khaki, and black; there's a new range of neutrals in design. Moderate hues—namely, shades of gray—are becoming a go-to choice for living areas. Whether modern and sophisticated or traditional and grand, colors such as charcoal, gray, and greige can add a calm yet fashionable feel to any home. Read on to see how these new neutrals work in eight different living rooms.

Range of Neutrals

From white to cream, light gray to charcoal, this room covers all the bases when it comes to cool neutrals. Accent pillows, a throw, and a round area rug bring in the darker charcoal and contrast with the lighter walls and white area rug. Using a range of neutrals breaks up the monotony of a single color and adds interest to the design. Adding accent pieces, such as the red accessories shown here, is a fun way to introduce other colors to the room.
