Decorate with Warm Colors

By Tiffany Adams

Channeling the sun and higher temperatures, warm colors can be cheerful, dramatic, and most of all inviting. Often used in design to create a cozy feeling, the colors—including red, orange, yellow, and all shades in between—translate to all styles from modern to traditional. Consider the following seven combinations to bring warm, welcoming colors into your home.

Traditional Take

Known as a stimulating color, orange can invite conversation and even excite our palates—making it a great choice for a dining area. A custom banquette, upholstered in a light shade of yellow, coordinates with the bright orange drapery panels, cushions, and chandelier. The same colors are visible in the room's artwork. Dark wood furniture, along with creamy walls and flooring, contrasts with the bright accent colors and allows them to take center stage.
