Consider a ceiling treatment

Occasionally referred to as the fifth wall, the ceiling of any room can become an eye-catching focal point. Here, a black-and-white striped pattern draws the eye upward while equally bold prints and colors on the furnishings ground the design to keep the room in balance. Use paint—in a solid color or pattern—or wallpaper to re-create the look in your space.
