Without a designated space to put items you use often—keys, gear, bag, leashes—they often fall into a heap by the door. You don't need a dedicated room to manage the mess. Try out these ideas that make smart use of furniture, hooks, baskets, and more in your entryway.

Problem: My foyer is a bare length of wall.

Solution: Add a chest.

With this single piece of furniture, you can get a handle on a messy entryway. Choose a chest with enough surface area to hold a bowl for little items, a lamp, and anything else that gets left in the foyer. Drawers are helpful for holding scarves, gloves, and other outdoor gear.
