Problem: Rooms are overrun with kid gear.

Solution: Incorporate storage solutions.

Whether in shared living spaces or their bedrooms, the littlest members of your family come with the most gear. You can add built-ins for permanent storage or use furniture pieces that allow you to capture every available inch to store books, toys, and clothing. If you're building a custom solution, consider adding a storage element: A bed has room for drawers below or shelving in the headboard. Wall-mounted shelves make the most of vertical space. Cubbies and hooks at kid-level help corral backpacks, jackets, and shoes.
