Create Levels of Interest: Multitiered Countertops

By Tiffany Adams

Multitiered equals multipurpose when it comes to kitchen countertops. Whether they are concealing a work area, providing additional dining or prep space, or giving the kitchen a touch of architectural interest, raised countertops offer a sightly solution for a number of kitchen conundrums.

Tri-Level Perfection

Three levels of countertop space create an intriguing and fully functional area at this contemporary kitchen's central island. The firstor lowestlevel offers an abundance of food preparation space and includes the range as well as a small sink for washing fruits and vegetables. A mid-level surface, set at counter height, gives guests a place to taste the chef's fare; and finally, the tallest level conceals the range and safely separates it from the dining space
