Problem: My dark walls are closing in on me.

Solution: Use a high contrast paint to brighten up the room.

Navy, brown, and even black walls have surged in popularity, especially in the bedroom where they instantly create a sense of warmth and quiet. The best dark rooms are balanced with light or white floors, walls, and trim. Adding large white mats to framed photos and artwork adds brightness. A mirrored piece of furniture, such as this console, bounces around light, too.
