Matt Devine is a prolific San Diego artist. As a self taught sculptor, his work has gradually moved towards the strong and organic properties of metal. Matt has made his living working from his studio in the historic arts district of Little Italy where he manipulates raw materials such as steel, copper and bronze into the modern sculptures he is known for. His artwork evokes a strong and simultaneously quiet presence fusing both elegant and powerful forms. A self described Minimalist, his > MORE influence includes the Mid-Century design icon, Isamu Noguchi, as well as 20th century masters such as Alexander Calder, Barbara Hepworth and Richard Serra. He finds inspiration in his love of architecture, furniture, music and nature, as well as his Southern California surroundings.
