Wow walls with paint or paper

Paint is one liquid asset the economy can't deflate, remaining one of the easiest-to-use, most inexpensive design tools around. Find inspiration for your choice of room-refreshing hues in nature, a new fabric, or even within a favorite piece of clothing or a dishware pattern. For visual variety, use paint to create a linen look or stripes—vertical stripes make the ceiling appear higher, while horizontal stripes make walls recede so the room appears more spacious. (Browse stunning striped rooms here.)

Wallcoverings are another option for introducing allover pattern and color to your living room. Some coverings offer elements of shine or texture. For an unexpected look, apply wallcoverings to your living room ceiling.
