9 Sunny Sunrooms

By Sharon Johnson

1/9

With an abundance of windows and natural light, it's no surprise that sunrooms and conservatories are often the most beloved rooms in people's homes. Since these airy, light-filled spaces typically take their design cues from the immediate outdoor surroundings, they tend to be less formal than other rooms in the house. The sunrooms and conservatory featured here are particularly inviting.

Rustic Charm

Floor-to-ceiling wooden shutters add just the right finishing touch to the expansive sunroom in this 19th century riverfront home. The coral stone floors complement the marble-topped bar where the owners shuck oysters. The wooden vessel hanging above the bar was designed to hold lobsters and crabs, and adds a nice touch of warmth and whimsy.
